My Dog Has Died

Ari Posted by Ari at 08:48 PM on September 15, 2009

As of 08:35 PM EDT 15 September, 0035Z 16 September, my dog of seven years, Lil'Bit, has passed away.  She was a pure-bred Labrador Retriever from Richmond, Virginia Orlando, Florida.  My family got her back in 2002 as a puppy.  She was a good dog, although sometimes pushy or too much of a beggar, as most if not all dogs are.  One thing I regret from her time here is how I didn't spend enough time with her.  Since we got our younger dog, Pico, a Jack Russell Mix, we've had to keep her behind two gates in our laundry room in order to keep our dogs separated, since they didn't -- well, never got to, get along.

I'll add a photo to this post once I get it off my camera.

Enjoy yourself, Lil'Bit.

ouch dude. That's too bad. At least she made it longer than a lot of big dogs.

Yeah. It just gets me that the average lifespan is 12 years for a dog like her, and we lost her at 7. This was actually the first time I saw a dog die. Really creeped me out.

That's too bad, Emily.

The reason this dog's death gets me so much is because

1) She was my first dog.
2) I never saw a dog die before.

But I'm starting to get over it now. I keep imagining her walking into the room I'm in for some reason....
